About BrainSheet

Built for the people who hold the floor together.

Nurses are some of the most over-asked, under-equipped professionals in the country. The brain sheet — that piece of paper folded into a pocket — is the secret operating system of every shift. We thought it deserved to be better.

The why

If you've ever worked a 12-hour shift on a med-surg floor, you know the routine: print out three blank brain sheets from a shared Google Drive someone made in 2014, scribble in the margins because the layout doesn't quite fit your unit, fold them four ways, lose one, find it laundered in your scrubs three days later.

The patterns nurses develop for tracking patients are extraordinary. The tools they're given to do it are not. Brain sheets in 2026 still look — and feel — exactly like brain sheets in 2010. Generic. Static. PDF. Stuck.

BrainSheet exists because the layout you need on Tuesday morning in the ICU is not the layout you need on Saturday night in the ER. And building tools for nurses that bend with their work — not the other way around — turns out to make a measurable difference in how the day goes.

The how

We assembled a library of 152 sections covering every specialty we could find — from FAST-HUG and ventilator settings to BUBBLE-LE and APGAR. We talked to floor nurses, charge nurses, new grads, and clinical educators. We learned that the gap between a "good brain sheet" and a "perfect one" is usually three or four specific boxes — boxes nobody ever bothered to put together in one customizable place.

So we built that place. A builder where you start with your specialty, drop in the sections that matter, drop the ones that don't, and get a print-ready PDF plus an editable Word file in less than three minutes. A premade shop for nurses who'd rather skip the build. AI assist for when you want a starting point.

And — important — we kept the prices low. $4 for a premade. $6 for a custom build. Less than the coffee you bought before the shift you're about to work.

What we believe

  • Nurses know what they need. Our job is to give them a flexible canvas, not to lecture them on workflow.
  • Tools should fit the worker. Brain sheets shouldn't be one-size-fits-none.
  • Speed beats polish — but only when both are possible. A sheet that's perfect but takes 45 minutes to build is the wrong product. So is a generic one that takes 4 seconds. We aim for the middle that respects your time.
  • Privacy isn't optional. Our tools don't touch patient data, and they never will.

What's next

We're building toward a few things over the next year: institutional licensing for nursing schools, a charge-nurse multi-patient board, a drug-card builder using the same approach, and a small library of free starter sheets for nursing students. If you have a specialty we haven't built for yet, or a feature you wish existed, tell us. The best parts of this product came from the inbox.
